Russian Center
The Russian Center of Yerevan State University was opened on February 7, 2008, according to the contract signed between YSU and the "Ruskiy Mir" Foundation on January 6, 2006.
The Russian Center has a rich library (more than 2,000 units of literature of new editions, regularly updated), as well as a film library and a video library, which are alternative and effective means of information in the modern world.
During its activity, the center received more than 140,000 visitors within the framework of various free events organized for preschool children, schoolchildren, students, and those interested in the history, culture, literature, and Russian language in general.
The services of the center are used not only by students and schoolchildren but also by all those who want to study the history and culture of Russia and acquire the skills of free communication in Russian. Visitors of the YSU Russian Center can use the center's books, periodicals, encyclopedias, and newsletters for free, as well as participate in regularly organized meetings to deepen their knowledge of Russian.
In cooperation with YSU and various RA universities, cultural, literary, and poetry evenings and discussions, intra-university and inter-university competitions are regularly held for students in the Russian Center, which strengthen the connection between students of different universities and promote the improvement of Russian language proficiency.
The activity of the center
YSU Russian Center carries out activities in several main directions.
1. Informational: provision of a large volume of information on various fields.
2. Educational: various programs and courses, acquisition and improvement of Russian language knowledge based on specially selected printed and computer publications, organization of individual and independent work of students and visitors, methodical support in the selection of educational manuals and scientific and informational materials of various fields, independent and group work with the media collection, watching and listening to history courses, reading art lectures, studying classic literature.
3. Creative: organization of art actions, exhibitions, film viewings, and discussions, holding thematic weeks and creative contests, participation in festivals and holidays dedicated to the Russian language and Russian culture, and creative and artistic programs of the "Rusky Mir" Foundation.
4. Communicative: supporting intercultural scientific, cognitive, and informal communication, organizing conferences and seminars, conducting round table discussions, creating various clubs, thematic evenings, reading conferences, and literary evenings, as well as thematic lectures, presentations and meetings with famous people, representatives of Russian culture and public figures.
