Research Center for the Institute of Pharmacy
The Research Center for the Institute of Pharmacy of YSU studies the synthesis of new chiral metal complex catalysts and organocatalysts, and potentially biologically active compounds are obtained through catalytic methods.
The Research Center continuously conducts research in the field of asymmetric synthesis, in particular, effective stoichiometric and catalytic methods for obtaining optically active non-protein amino acids and their peptides with enantiomerically enriched structures are being developed.
Also, new modified metal complexes are modeled and synthesized, which are then examined as chiral catalysts in amino acid synthesis reactions. The new synthesized compounds are then subjected to biomedical screening.
The main research directions are:
- Obtaining, studying and exploring possibilities for application of chiral metal complexes catalytic systems,
- Developing effective methods (stoichiometric and catalytic) of obtaining enantiomerically enriched, optically active, non-protein amino acids of different structures, and peptides consisting of these amino acids,
- Implementing medical and biological screening of the new synthesized compounds.
