Innovation Center for Microbial Biotechnology and Biofuels
The YSU Innovation Center for Microbial Biotechnology and Biofuels was established in 2015-2017 as part of the "Education Improvement" project of the "Center for Educational Programs" of the RA MoESCS with a grant provided by the Competitive Innovation Fund, co-financed by YSU, Armenian Government and the World Bank. The official opening took place in February 2018, and the center started operating in March 2018.
In the center, works are carried out in educational, research and innovative directions.
The center has an active participation in the creation and development of the biotechnology cluster in Armenia.
The center carries out the following research studies:
- mechanisms of interaction between membrane and non-membrane proteins,
- transport of substances and ions through membranes,
- activity of different enzymes,
- production of biohydrogen, biobutanol and bioethanol from organic waste by microbes.
