The admission of foreign citizens is carried out by the "Procedure of admission of foreign citizens to RA higher educational institutions" approved by the relevant decision of the Government of the Republic of Armenia.

According to this procedure, the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports accepts the applicants' documents.

Preparation courses for foreign citizens

YSU operates a department of preparatory courses for foreign citizens (52a, Abovyan St., Yerevan, 1st floor of the Faculty of Armenian Philology, Office 115, tel.: (+374 60) 710 679, (+374 96) 710 679), where those foreigners whose educational level corresponds to the RA secondary school program have the opportunity to be admitted, including those who do not have a sufficient command of the Armenian language.

Foreign students, along with strengthening general education knowledge (mathematics, history, chemistry, biology, geography, foreign language, etc.), learn Armenian or supplement their knowledge of the Armenian language.

At the end of the academic year, those foreign students who have successfully passed the exams are admitted to the respective faculties.

Who has the opportunity to enter and study at YSU?

Foreign citizens who are fluent in the Armenian language and can successfully pass the entrance exams for the faculty of their choice have the opportunity to be admitted to the YSU Undergraduate studies.

Foreign citizens who are fluent in Armenian and have a Bachelor's degree have the opportunity to be admitted to the YSU Master's studies. If the applicant continues his/her education in another profession, he/she must pass the entrance exam in the professional subjects of the preferred faculty. In special cases, foreign citizens will be given the opportunity to study in the Master's program with an individual study program (for 1-2 academic years).

Foreign citizens who have a Master's degree and are fluent in Armenian, Russian, and English can receive Postgraduate education. In the case of a number of specialties, it is possible to organize the course also in English.

Documents required for admission

Foreign citizens must submit the following documents to apply to YSU:

Application to the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of the Republic of Armenia (provided by the Ministry),
A questionnaire provided by the Ministry,
Medical certificate about the general state of health (the certificate can also be issued by the medical organizations of the Republic of Armenia),
Copies of all pages of the passport or birth certificate and/or baptism certificate,
A copy of the graduation document of the educational degree,
4 photos (3 x 4 size),
Curriculum Vitae (CV) in Armenian, Russian, or English,

8) To receive Postgraduate professional education (Ph.D.), a scientific essay on the topic of the chosen profession: a limit of 20 pages (in Armenian, Russian, or English).

The diplomatic mission of the Republic of Armenia accepts the documents for consideration if there is a consular authentication in a foreign country, and if the laws of the Republic of Armenia or international treaties provide no other provisions.

Admission schedule

STEP 1

It is necessary to hand over the documents to the RA ESCS Ministry for examination and registration (address: Vazgen Sargsyan 3, Government Building No. 2, 3rd floor, room 315,

For on-site Undergraduate and Master’s studies from July 1 to August 25;
For off-site Undergraduate and Master's studies from July 1 to October 10,
For Postgraduate education: from July 1 to December 15,
For preparatory courses: from July 1 to December 15. Classes start on October 1.

STEP 2:

After examination and registration of documents, it is necessary to visit the Department of Organization of Education of Foreign Students of Yerevan State University (address: Alek Manukyan 1, YSU central building, 4th floor, room 408, Phone: (+374 10) 555 244, E-mails: diaspora@ysu.am, foreignstudent@ysu.am).

Dormitory

The YSU dormitory was renovated in 2019. The dormitory has 125 rooms, of which 66 include 1 room, 47 have 2 rooms, 8 have 3 rooms, and 4 include 4 rooms. The rooms are furnished and comfortable; they include bathrooms, heating, and 10 kitchens, which are provided with the necessary household equipment (refrigerator, gas stove, kettle, microwave oven, etc.).

Safety rules are observed in the dormitory, and access to transport is ensured.
