Chair of Pharmacochemistry and Pharmacognosy
The Chair of Pharmacochemistry and Pharmacognosy was established in 2015 based on the foundation of the Chair of Pharmaceutical Chemistry operating since 1998 at the YSU Faculty of Pharmacology and Chemistry. In 2017, The Chair of Pharmacochemistry and Pharmacognosy was included in the newly created Institute of Pharmacy.
The teaching laboratories of the Chair are equipped with modern research and analytical apparatus.
The employees of the Chair are involved in international and local grant programs and are authors of educational manuals, monographs, and scientific articles, which are mostly published in periodicals with a high impact factor.
The Research Center of the Institute of Pharmacy is attached to the Chair of Pharmacochemistry and Pharmacognosy, where research is carried out in the direction of asymmetric biomimetic synthesis of aliphatic, aromatic, and heterocyclic substituted, optically active non-protein (S)- and (R)-α-amino acids. Drug quality control studies are conducted in the laboratory of the Scientific and Educational Center for Drug Quality Control and Monitoring. Based on that center, since 2021, the Master's program "Drug Quality Control" offered by the Chair has been operating at the institute.
