The scientific seminar titled "Water Management: Goals, Technologies, and Best Practice" was held at YSU as part of USAID’s "Improved Water Resources Management in Armenia" program.
During the seminar, lecturers from the University of Colorado Boulder—a program partner—introduced goals, challenges, modern management technologies, and remote learning opportunities to the students and teaching staff of the YSU Geography and Geology Faculty.
Dean of the YSU Faculty of Geography and Geology Sargis Kelyan welcomed the attendees and highlighted the importance of similar meetings and discussions. In this context, he pointed out the critical need for reforms in water management.
University of Colorado Boulder lecturers presented the goals of water resources utilization, including hydropower generation, water supply to settlements, navigation, environmental protection, then talked about the improvements in water quality and discussed the features of using the latest water resources management technologies.
During the seminar, students learned about the study programs, educational internships, and research opportunities offered through USAID's "Improved Water Resources Management in Armenia" program.
It’s important to note that undergraduate students and young specialists have the opportunity to apply to the University of Colorado Boulder online graduate certificate program in Global Engineering with a focus on water resource management, receiving about 95% of tuition reimbursement in the form of a grant.
One of the components of the USAID's "Improved Water Resources Management in Armenia" program is the support provided to the Water Resources Management Department of the Armenian Ministry of Environment and the "Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center" SNCO aimed at developing the latest tools for the effective management of water resources.
