History

For centuries, history has been one of the prominent and developed areas of Armenian culture. Following the approach of Movses Khorenatsi and not looking at the many pages of our journey that do not cause excitement, Armenians wrote the history and tried to understand themselves and the world around them.

Today, when Armenians are forced to respond to a number of threats due to internal and external reasons, the need to turn to history, boldly examine, and reevaluate it, has increased. Nowadays, the formation of citizens and generations with a vibrant state and national consciousness and the construction of a strong and developed state by neutralizing the existing threats have become of primary importance. Historians have an important role in solving that problem.

From this point of view, the YSU Faculty of History, which has more than a century of history, traditions, and experience, offers the "History" Bachelor's educational program.

Admission requirements

To be admitted to the "History" educational program, the applicants take exams in "Armenian History" and "Armenian Language and Literature".

The aim of the program

The program aims to train historians with fundamental knowledge, theoretical training, and the ability and skills to perform scientific research.

Thanks to the knowledge and skills acquired within the framework of the "History" program, for decades and today, our graduates occupy high, leadership positions in the political field, at various levels of state administration (the Government of the Republic of Armenia, ministries, the National Assembly, the Office of the Commissioner of Diaspora, the NSS, regional governors, municipalities, municipal governments), etc.).

Career opportunities

Graduates of the proposed program have the opportunity to work in the history and oriental studies institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, and other scientific research institutions. The graduates are also in demand in the National Archives of Armenia, tourist agencies and museums, and in schools and secondary professional educational institutions if obtaining an additional pedagogue qualification.
