A panel discussion titled "The 30th Anniversary of the Armenian Dram. Developments and Perspectives " was held at the YSU Faculty of Economics and Management, the purpose of which was to study the problems of various sectors of the economy and to include the students from the mentioned faculty in these discussions.
Karlen Khachatryan, the Dean of the YSU Faculty of Economics and Management, Candidate of Economic Sciences and Associate Professor, noted that within the scope of the topic, the issues related to the trends and developments of the monetary policy since the formation of the dram to the present day were studied․
"This is a very important event, which also initiates the discussion of important economic and social issues in a new format. Our main goal is to bring the challenges and issues of the economy into discussion. It is noteworthy that these discussions are held with the active participation of leading experts in the field. It should be emphasized that the target group of such events is first of all the students; it is necessary to regularly create opportunities for students to communicate with successful and leading experts in the field outside classroom courses, as well as to ask them questions," said K. Khachatryan.
Vardan Aleksanyan, Deputy Dean of the YSU Faculty of Economics and Management, worthening this event, emphasized, "A few days ago, the 30th anniversary of the Armenian dram was celebrated, which was a significant event for the financial and banking sector and our country in general, because new occasions are emerging along with instability and uncertainty in the world. In this context, it is extremely important to hold such an event at YSU with the involvement of leading experts in the field. Through this discussion, students, as well as teaching staff representatives, have the opportunity to learn about the upcoming events from the former and current governors of the Central Bank, executive and general directors of commercial banks, as well as to hear about the upcoming financial and economic stability of the dram and commentaries."
Rapid financial, geopolitical and technological developments faster frequent organization of such discussions aimed at introducing the problems of the field to future specialists and developing strategic steps to solve them.
Bagrat Asatryan, Former Governor of RA Central Bank (1994-1998), Chairman of the Board of "Garni Invest" UCO CJSC and Executive Director, referring to the origin, circulation and valuation of the dram, talked about the previously implemented programs and processes.
Martin Galstyan, Governor of the Central Bank of Armenia, spoke about the history of Armenian dram, future plans and implemented policies.
As part of the panel discussion, Andranik Grigoryan, Chief Executive Director of "Converse Bank" CJSC, and Hayk Stepanyan, Chief Executive Director of "Byblos Bank Armenia" CJSC, presented the existing instruments of monetary regulation and current issues of the sector, their observations, approaches and predictions regarding the role of the national currency in the Armenian economy, as well as the prospects and possibilities of the national currency valuation.
