General information
Currently, the risk of living organisms to be exposed to radiation is steadily increasing. Therefore, the development of protective methods of living organisms from radiation is very important. The royal jelly, which is widely used in folk medicine, may play an important role in this regard, but its possible contribution to the protection of living organisms from radiation has not yet been studied. As a model of study, we selected yeasts Candida guilliermondii NP-4, which are aerobic eukaryotes, are structurally and functionally similar to higher eukaryotes, and are significantly more radio stable than higher eukaryotes. We plan to study the growth of yeasts exposed to radiation with different frequencies, investigate the changes in the activity of key metabolic enzymes of yeasts when adding royal jelly to the nutrient medium. The results of the study will allow the use of royal jelly to develop radio protective methods for living organisms, to prevent deep metabolic changes in living organisms in the event of possible radiation exposure.
