YSU researchers participated in the conference held in Tbilisi
On November 20-22 of this year, within the framework of the "Caucasus Barcode of Life" ("CaBol") project, a conference was held in Tbilisi entitled "The study of the biodiversity of the Caucasus in the framework of current international cooperation".
The goal of the "CaBol" project is to create collections of terrestrial and aquatic organisms of the Caucasus: plants, animals, microbes, as well as create a biodiversity center, where samples of the rich biodiversity of the Caucasus will be collected.
The laboratory processing of the specimens collected in Armenia was mainly implemented in the laboratory of the Chair of Zoology, the Faculty of Biology, YSU under the leadership of the head of the Chair Marine Arakelyan and the employees of the Chair Astghik Ghazaryan and Sargis Aghayan. Within the framework of the project, the specialists of the Chair carried out fieldwork, during which a large number of samples were collected from different regions of Armenia.
Employees and students of the Chair of Zoology participated in the conference held in Tbilisi and presented their scientific works conducted within the framework of the program, as well as their achievements in the form of presentations and poster reports.
Within the framework of the "CaBol" project, it is planned to strengthen cooperation between partners and initiate the implementation of new research projects in the field of biodiversity. "CaBol" database will become an important basis for the implementation of public events aimed at preserving the rich biodiversity of Armenia's nature.
It should be noted that the materials collected as a result of the work carried out within the framework of the project became the basis for the preparation of candidate 1, master's 2 and graduation 6 works.
