MEMORANDUM OF COOPERATION SIGNED BETWEEN YSU AND NOVGOROD STATE UNIVERSITY
The head of the Department of Theology of Novgorod State University, Professor Sergey Avanesov delivered a lecture entitled “Visual signs of Armenia in Siberia” at the Faculty of European Languages and Communication.
The speaker presented how Armenians live in the Siberian city of Tomsk how they participate in the local cultural life. According to him. The Armenian Diaspora is most active in comparison with other nations and often organizes various cultural events. According to him, Armenians of Siberia also participate in the cultural events organized by other nations and it contributes to the development of inter-cultural relations.
After the lecture Sergey Avanesov was hosted in YSU Rector Aram Simonyan’s office. The head of the Department of International Cooperation Alexander Markarov, Professor of YSU Chair of Foreign Literature Tigran Simyan were present at the meeting too.
Cooperation directions between Yerevan and Novgorod State Universities were discussed during the meeting in the Rector’s office.
Sergey Avanesov thanked for the warm welcome, thanked about the history of Novgorod University noting that the university has no Faculty of Theology, but is has a Department of Theology. He also said that the cooperation between the universities in the fields of Theology and Archaeology would be desirable.
At the end of the meeting a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between YSU and Novgorod State University which provides for the two universities to implement joint educational, scientific and research activities. Exchanged programs for students and lecturers and cultural events are also included in the Memorandum.
