RESEARCHER AT UNIVERSITY OF DELHI ANUSH GASPARYAN PRESENTES HER RESEARCH ON SEXUAL HARASSMENT IN THE WORKPLACE AT YSU
The researcher at the University of Delhi Anush Gasparyan presented her research on “Sexual Harassment in the Workplace: Analysis of Legal Acts of India” in the Centre for Gender and Leadership Studies of YSU.
Anush Gasparyan is currently living in New Delhi, India, is a post-graduate and researches at the Department of Law of the University of Delhi, as well as an intern in the Centre for Gender and Leadership Studies.
She told about the cases she dealt with during her activity and life and noted that men, particularly those who are engaged in decision making and are at top positions in different organizations take this theme without seriousness.
A.Gasparyan spoke about women’s independence, and particularly emphasized financial independence. According to her, gender segregation exists in various cultures and societies according to which there are women’s and men’s professions.
Speaking about the legal studies of the problem in India, Anush Garsparyan mentioned a number of court cases related to women’s harassment in the working place, particularly when they do some services in someone’s house.
The speaker also referred to the stories of the people encountered sexual harassment and violence united under the “#MeToo” which is widely spread worldwide.
