About the program
Admission requirements
The admission is made by the admission procedure approved by the Government of the Republic of Armenia.
For admission, the applicant should take an exam in the following subjects: "Chemistry" (compulsory), "Biology" or "Physics" (optional).

The aim of the program
The program aims to prepare high-quality specialists who meet international standards and will be endowed with the fundamental knowledge, abilities, and practical skills of the field, which will enable them to work in pharmacies, in the production of drugs, in the regulatory structures of the drug sector, in the field of customs service, in expert organizations, medical, forensic, scientific and in educational institutions and elsewhere.
Advantages
At the end of the program, the student will be able to present the features of professional work in chemistry, pharmacy, healthcare, and related fields, modern and fundamental concepts, theories and methods of study, the structure of chemical compounds, properties, methods of analysis, their toxicological effects and safety rules for working with these substances, as well as the principles of design, creation, preparation, analysis, and circulation of drugs and pharmaceutical raw materials, to define the basic principles and concepts of modern science, the basics of performing research work in the fields of chemistry, pharmacy, healthcare, biomedical and related fields.
At the end of the program, the student will be able to identify and solve professional problems based on analysis and synthesis, applying critical thinking and demonstrating a research and creative approach, as well as presenting and explaining information, arguments, and ideas related to the field of chemistry, pharmacy, and healthcare issues, facilitate the work to collect, store, process, analyze, interpret and present information to solve professional problems, using modern information technologies. Upon completion of the program, the students will be able to work in a team and cooperate effectively with team members, observe the norms of ethics and conduct, use normative legal documents of the professional field, perform and manage professional functions and programs in an unpredictable work or study environment, taking responsibility for individuals in teamwork, determining future professional development or career paths.
There are three professional chairs in the Institute of Pharmacy, where teaching and research laboratories, as well as offices, operate. They are equipped with pharmacy and analytical appliances (pharmacy and factory technology, pharmacology, pharmacology analysis, pharmaceutical chemistry, etc.).

The institute has auditoriums equipped with computers, which make it possible to organize lectures using didactic materials, as well as online lectures by distance learning.
To master the courses fully, students are also provided with electronic materials and books, and some printed books and educational manuals can be purchased from the YSU library and the office of the Institute of Pharmacy.

Graduates of the "Pharmaceutical Chemistry" educational program can work in the following organizations operating in the pharmaceutical and related professional fields: drug manufacturing factories, public and hospital pharmacies, regulatory bodies, and organizations in the sphere of drug circulation (the RA Ministry of Health, RA Health and Labor Inspection Body, Drug and Medical technology expert center, business entities engaged in the wholesale sale of drugs, Armenian representative offices of foreign suppliers and pharmaceutical manufacturers, research and educational institutions, etc.
Graduates of the program have the opportunity to continue their studies in the specialty "Pharmacy" both at the YSU Institute of Pharmacy, at the Master's educational programs at YSU, and various professional institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, at the American University of Armenia, etc.
