Social Pedagogy

The "Social Pedagogy" educational program has been operating since the 2010-2011 academic year in the Undergraduate program of the Center for Pedagogy and Education Development of Yerevan State University.

Applicants of the 2023-2024 academic year have the opportunity to apply for and take joint entrance exams twice a year: in January and June.

Applicants with secondary and secondary vocational education who successfully overcome the standard threshold of admission quality have the opportunity to study in the course. To be admitted to the "Social Pedagogy" educational program, two competitive exams should be taken: The Armenian Language and Literature (written) and Foreign Language (written) or Mathematics (written).

The program aims to train high-quality social pedagogues with systematic knowledge to carry out effective socio-pedagogical activities in public schools and children's development, care, and support centers.

Within the framework of the educational program, students are introduced to the problems of studying social pedagogy, the stages of children's socialization, factors, and spheres of social pedagogue activity, functions, methods, and technologies. The educational impact of the social environment on the development process of different age groups and people with different problems (behavioral, communicative, psychological, health, socio-pedagogical) in the context of socialization are commented on.

The necessity and importance of a social pedagogue in the public schools of the Republic of Armenia are fixed in the state curriculum of public education of the Republic of Armenia (approved by the Government of the Republic of Armenia in 2004). The social pedagogue is a bridge between different social institutions.

Having received the qualification of a social pedagogue, the graduates of the educational program can work as a social pedagogue in all public schools and child support and care centers of the Republic of Armenia.
