As part of the 25th Armenian Student Sports Games, the inter-university basketball championship was held in YSU. The YSU girls' team took the 2nd prize position in the tightly contested competition.
9 teams participated in the boys' basketball tournament, and 8 teams participated in the girls' tournament representing various higher education institutions of Yerevan and provinces.
Lusine Melkonyan, Coach of the YSU girls’ basketball team and Lecturer at the Chair of Physical Education and Sports, speaking about students’ engagement in sports games, noted: "The team has a fairly high level of sporting prowess; we hold sports classes twice a week. It should be noted that students always eagerly await and participate in such tournaments."
In the tightly contested competition, the YSU boys' team took the fourth position. Professor Vladimir Zakoyan, Coach of the team and Lecturer at the Chair of Physical Education and Sports, emphasized that the students take part in both classic and "3x3" basketball competitions with great pleasure.
""3x3" basketball is quite interesting and differs from classic basketball as it is more intense and is played three on three on one hoop. The YSU team includes active young people from various faculties," said V. Zakoyan.
It should be noted that students’ engagement in such tournaments contributes to the development of the sports field at the university.
