Yerevan State University Faculty of European Languages and Communication, Chair of Foreign Literature announces admission for the Course in Buddhist Discourse in Western Literature (Continuing education) for undergraduate and masters degree students.
The students will study the history of modern English and American literature in relation to Buddhist Discourse which embraces different peculiarities of interpreting and construing Buddhist philosophical approaches in modern outlook observing the eradication of our primary impulses as the main source of human developments. Buddhist philosophy and literary sides delineate certain routs both geographical and metaphorical which every person should pass to achieve his/her desired objectives both on the mental and physical level to improve the personality, to get rid of unnecessary routine, to become more sever and more complete in the framework of the modern routine, to make a more attentive observer. The course is aimed to provide extra skills in critical thinking, analyses, better knowledge of both Western literature and its different dimensions (especially the one connected with Buddhism as religious and philosophical concept). The goal of the course is to equip young researchers with analytical and research skills and create maximum opportunities for them in their professional work. Course participants will be given the opportunity to write scientific articles, the best of which will be discussed on different platforms. We are planning to have up to 30 students within the course. Preference will be given to the students with high achievement and research experience (participation in conferences, open discussions, colloquiums, articles, literary observations, scientific discussions).
The classes will be held by YSU professors, whose scientific works and expert opinions are well known not only in Armenia, but also internationally.

Dr. Anush Sedrakyan - Associate Professor, Head of the Chair of Foreign Literature, Participant of different international symposiums, Author of articles and monographs on Foreign Literature, French modern poetry, The critical essays of Ezra Pound and others.
Dr. Anahit Yeganyan - she was Guest lecturer at Saarland University, Pembroke College, Cambridge University, Research fellow at Moscow Institute of World Literature, Chicago University.
Dr. Amalya Soghomonyan - author of articles and books on Historical and real time in Hosseini;s novels, The problem of alienation in the novel “And the Mountains Echoed” by Khaled Hosseini, Perception of Sin in Khaled Hosseini; “The Kite Runner”, Perception of guilt and Freudian, Vladimir Nabokov;s aesthetic perceptions, Exiled Writer in Migrant Literature, The search for identity in the territory of migrant literature, The clash of identity and cultural tradition in American migrant literature, The problem of identity preservation in the age of migration, Features of the exile;s identity based on the example of Vladimir Nabokov and many others.
Dr. Lilit Karapetyan – she is an author of French textbooks and scientific articles.
Dr. Rita Saghatelyan who authored articles and books based on Contemporary Armenian Language, dialectology, Eastern Armenian studies, phraseology.
Three month classes will start on the 1 st of March 2024. Lectures will be held three times a week. At the end of the courses, successful graduates will be awarded certificates.

Course cost for 3 months is 450.000 AMD. Participants are responsible to cover their international and domestic travel, accommodation costs, meals, visa and insurance costs.
