Chair of the Russian language
The Chair of the Russian Language was established in 2022 based on two Chairs: the Russian Language for humanities faculties and the Russian Language for natural sciences faculties, which were founded in 1981. The creation of Chairs was determined by the peculiarities of language teaching in humanities and natural science faculties.
The Chair of the Russian language is a practical one. The professors teach "Practical Russian language" in all non-professional faculties of the university. Teaching is carried out according to the program developed and approved by the Chair, which consists of two parts: teaching literary Russian and professional language.
The scientific research of the Chair is carried out in the following main directions: general problems of the Russian language teaching methodology, comparative studies of Russian and Armenian grammar, problems of teaching professional language and scientific style, and analysis of artistic text.
Extensive educational and methodological work is carried out in the Chair. Textbooks, a number of educational manuals, and educational dictionaries of professional terms have been developed and published under the authority of the professors. The faculty of the Chair prints and revises educational manuals, publishes articles in national and international scientific journals, and presents reports at national and international conferences.
The head of the Russian language Chair is Ph.D., Associate Professor Naira Martiryan.
To increase the effectiveness of teaching, scientific and methodical seminars are regularly held in the Chair, during which various methodological issues are discussed, and modern methodological literature and the newest methods of language teaching are presented.
The Chair regularly organizes Russian language olympiads, poetry evenings, and round table discussions for students.
Since 2001, the Chair (the Russian language (for humanities faculties)) has also been conducting a Russian language course for foreign students of all YSU faculties. A special program has been developed that ensures the basic (A1) level of language knowledge.
