On April 22-26, the YSU Faculty of Sociology hosted lecturers Brita Gjerstad and Arvid Lone from the University of Stavanger, Norway, as part of the Erasmus+ Teaching Mobility Program.
They delivered lectures to the second and third-year students of the "Social Work" bachelor's degree program, along with the second-year students of the "Public Relations" bachelor's degree program.
Brita Gjerstad introduced a new term used in the field of social work- intersectionality. She also discussed with the attendees the challenges of disseminating technological innovations in the field of social work, as well as the ways and opportunities for overcoming them.
Another lecture addressed the topic of domestic violence against children. Arvid Lone presented innovative approaches to work with drug-addicted teenagers in Norway and motivational interviewing techniques.
As part of the visit, the professors from the University of Stavanger also visited partner organizations associated with YSU's 'Social Work' bachelor's degree program: the FAR Child Protection Center and the Nagashyan Child House Child Support Center. During these visits they engaged in professional discussions with center employees, compared the methods used in working with children in Norway and Armenia, developed a future vision for experience exchanges.
On the last day of the visit, B. Gjerstad presented the concept of the Norwegian welfare state to the lecturers of the Sociology Faculty during the methodological seminars. This sparked lively discussions and debates among the audience members.
Specialists from the Chair of Social Work and Social Technologies at YSU and the University of Stavanger identified topics for joint research and articles for further cooperation.
