Social work is a profession based on integrative practice that promotes social change, development, cohesion, and the empowerment of people and communities.
Since September 1996, the YSU Faculty of Sociology has been successfully implementing the four-year "Social Work" Bachelor's program, the graduates of which work in state bodies of the RA social sphere, as well as local and international non-governmental organizations.
Within the framework of the program, subjects are taught, thanks to which students acquire knowledge and skills in identifying social problems in society, assessing the needs of vulnerable groups, supporting people, groups, families as well as communities in need, drawing up an intervention plan, managing a social case, in the direction of social counseling, advocacy and lobbying for the protection of human rights, as well as professional supervision.
Graduates of the "Social Work" Bachelor's educational program have the opportunity to work in state, local, and international non-governmental organizations operating in various fields, occupying the positions of social worker, case manager, developer, and evaluator of social programs, as well as supervisor. Graduates of the program can continue their studies in the Master's program "Social Work and Social Policy" of YSU Faculty of Sociology, as well as in other related programs.
