Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Republic of Armenia Patrik Svensson visited YSU and delivered a lecture.
As part of his lecture, the speaker presented the history of the diplomatic relations between Sweden and Armenia, the ways of cooperation and Sweden's foreign policy approach in the current geopolitical situation.
Speaking about the development programs implemented in Armenia with the support of Sweden, the ambassador noted that most of them are aimed at strengthening democracy, human rights, gender equality, prevention of corruption, economic development and environmental protection.
Patrik Svensson, referring to the organizations and foundations operating in the Republic of Armenia, with which they have established partnership relations, said that Armenian citizens have the opportunity to present their projects to these institutions and receive funding within the framework of regularly announced grant competitions.
"We also finance the programs implemented in the field of waste management, contribute to the increase of electrical efficiency, cooperate with the judicial system, so that the judges become more experienced, as well as work more effectively with the mass media. Additionally, we also support programs that encourage the involvement of women in the Armenian Armed Forces," said Patrik Svensson.
"It is very interesting for me to work in Armenia. The culture, the landscape and the willingness of people to face challenges fascinate me" emphasized the ambassador.
After the lecture, YSU faculty members and students had the chance to ask the ambassador their questions.
