General information
The 11 boxes of documents (25,020 pages), stored at the Archives of the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem, are of crucial value for the study of the Armenian Genocide and the Armenian Question. They shed light on certain facts of the genocidal policy pursued by the Ottoman Empire. The available at the Archives reports and notifications of Armenian and foreign political figures and diplomats, statistical data, eyewitness accounts and other materials are primary sources for the study of the Armenian Question and the situation of Western Armenians in 1911-1921. Within the scope of this Theme, it is planned to provide a comprehensive analysis of the complete catalogue of the mentioned documents. As a result, the archival materials will be categorized, provided with historical-philological references and published in academic journals; relevant catalogues will be drawn up and introduced to academic circles. Thereby, this evidence will serve as a) additional arguments for expressing the position of the Armenian side in counteracting the Turkish-Azerbaijani policy of denial of the Armenian Genocide on the international arena, b) a solid incentive for international cooperation in studying the Armenian Genocide, c) furtherance of the initiatives toward elimination of future genocides.
