General information
The project includes the study of molecular interactions of compounds having biological importance (DNA, vitamins dyes) and some low molecular weight compounds in liquid media and micellar systems as the basis of their biological function. Redox reactions of these compounds and hydroxyacid hydrazides with hydroxyl radicals will also be studied. For these goals the following methods will be used: densitometry, tensiometry, chromatography, light scattering, UV-vis spectroscopy, steady-state fluorescence, fluoresence anisotropy measurements and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Studies will give an opportunity to reveal the characteristics of interactions between DNA and these compounds as ligands and the effect of some factors (organic polar solvent, nanopool size, temperature) on these interactions, the distribution of the ligand in micellar systems as well. Kinetic studies of reactions of ligands, hydroxyacid hydrazides with hydroxyl radicals will reveal the antioxidant activity of these compounds. The obtained results will give an opportunity to monitor and regulate DNA stability in liquid media and organized systems, which are considered as model systems for biomembranes, and to uncover the antioxidant properties of several biologically active ligands as well.
