General information
The phenomenon of multilateral resistance of pathogenic microorganisms to modern traditional antibiotics, the emergence of infectious agents, makes it necessary to strengthen the microbiological protection of human health, develop new alternative treatment methods, obtain new antibiotics, study new targets and create drugs based on probiotic forms of bacteria. Mucous layers are the main gateway for the penetration of pathogens. Microbiota of the mucous play an important role in the maintaining of the environment that protects human from microbial infections. Changing in the composition and equilibrium of the vaginal microbiota can lead to disastrous consequences, such as premature birth, interruption of pregnancy, etc. Moreover, ethnic characteristics, climatic conditions, behavior and many other factors can lead to a change in the composition of the microbiota. The aim of this project is to study the biodiversity of the vaginal microbiome of Armenian population, identify differences in the microbiome of healthy patients with vaginal candidiasis and up to 12 weeks’ pregnant women, isolate lactic acid bacteria with high antagonistic activity, isolate and purify the active components and correct the microbiota by introducing in the vagina of the active components of the LAB.
