General information
The main aim of the program is to acquire relevant knowledge in contemporary molecular biology methods and skills to work with up to date equipment in addition to getting research results. The collaboration within the program with the University of Bourgogne (Laboratoire de Biochimie du Peroxysome, Inflammation & Métabolisme Lipidique) Dijon, France was built taking into account the scientific interests and equipment availability of the parties. Our goal is the investigation of the influence of plant-born metabolites in the redox regulation of metabolic processes. Previously we showed the catalase activity alteration in different cell lines and microbial strains under the treatment with plant extracts. Catalase has a key role in cell resistance to elevated levels of reactive oxygen species therefore, to the oxidative stress. So, applying the actual methods (Western blotting, Quantitative real‐time PCR, RT-PCR) for the investigating of the catalase gene expression will be beneficial for the development of natural preparations for prevention and treatment of so called “civilization diseases” and their consequences. It is expected that the acquired skills will be effectively used in various researches and training programs.
