Who has the opportunity to become a reader of the library and how?
All university students have the opportunity to join the YSU library: full-time and part-time students, applicants, post-graduate students, and employees.
To use the library services, you need to have a joint ticket.
Non-university students also have the opportunity to use the library services if they have the permission of the library director.
How to get a library ticket?
To use the library, it is necessary to have a joint ticket, which is provided to students by the faculty. It is both a student ticket and a library (reader's) ticket, which is issued for a certain period based on the reader's university status. Accordingly, a joint ticket is issued to:
- Undergraduate students for four years,
- Master's degree students for two years,
- YSU faculty representatives, by the term of the contract signed with them.
What can I do if I lose the joint ticket?
Dear reader, if you have lost your joint ticket, please visit the YSU library's computer department (library, office 302) as soon as possible, so that the librarian can block the ticket to prevent other people from using it.
How to receive a new ticket?
To have the reading ticket reissued, contact the dean's office of your faculty, where you will receive instructions on your next steps.
In case of further questions related to ticket re-issuance, contact the Computer Department of the library (office 302, 3rd floor, YSU library,).
Browsing rules
You can browse and find all the materials available in the YSU library, as well as place an online order in our electronic catalog at http://koha.ysu.am/.
For this, you need to enter the system by dialing the reading ticket number and your password.
The system can be searched using simple and advanced browsing methods.
To browse for materials in a simple way, it is necessary to enter words or expressions related to the searched material (the title of the book or the author's name, the year of publication, or all at the same time) in the search window, and then press the "Search" button.
It is also possible to select the indicator of the item (for example, title or author) from the drop-down menu and enter the title of the item or words from the title in the search window, then click the "Search" button.
To search by part of a word, you need to use an asterisk (*). It can be used in the middle and at the end of words.
The advanced search function allows one to search simultaneously with the help of several indicators and Boolean operators AND, OR, NOT, for example, by title and publication year at the same time, by entering the title and publication year in the corresponding fields.
It is also possible to search according to the type of material you are looking for (book, magazine, map, dissertation, etc.).
After entering the data and browsing, the relevant materials on the map will be displayed.
Ordering the item online
Dear reader, you can order materials online via the library's online catalog at http://koha.ysu.am/. For this, you need to log in to the system by entering the joint (reader) ticket number and your password. Then perform a search, find the requested item, and click the "Order" or "Place hold" button.
Not all items in our catalog have online ordering options, so the "Order" or "Place hold" button is not active for those items.
