"ARMENIANS AND IRANIANS HAVE COEXISTED PEACEFULLY IN THIS REGION FOR CENTURIES." AMBASSADOR EXTRAORDINARY AND PLENIPOTENTIARY OF THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF IRAN TO THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA
A meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Armenia Abbas Badakhshan Zohuri took place today at the Chair of Iranian Studies of YSU Faculty of Oriental Studies.
Vardan Voskanyan, Head of YSU Chair of Iranian Studies, representatives of the faculty, students were present at the meeting-discussion.
Vardan Voskanyan, Head of YSU Chair of Iranian Studies, made an opening speech at the beginning of the event.
Welcoming those present, he noted that the initiative of holding such meetings is very important and thanked the Ambassador for accepting the invitation to the meeting, as well as for donating new equipment and technical devices to the Chair of Iranian Studies.
The ambassador began his speech with the centuries-old Armenian-Iranian friendship, noting that Armenians have lived in Iran for almost 450 years. "Armenians have established schools and churches in Iran, adhering to their religion and faith, preserving Armenian culture in Iran as well."
The ambassador also referred to the potential of the Armenian-Iranian cooperation in different spheres, as well as spoke about the recent regional developments.
