Cosmology Laboratory

Activities and Creation 

The Cosmology Research Center (currently a laboratory) was established on 14 March 2008 under the leadership of Professor Vahagn Gurzadyan.

The laboratory conducts research in nonlinear problems of cosmology, the nature of dark matter and dark energy, and the large spatial distribution of matter in the universe, including the processing of observational data from satellite experiments, and theoretical model generation using theoretical, numerical, and machine learning methods.

We cooperate with the leading centers of the West: Russia (Landau Institute), USA (Caltech), Great Britain (Oxford), specialists from Italy, and France, and are involved in LARES (Italian Space Agency, European Space Agency, Gurzadyan is the Program lead board member) satellite program aimed at high-precision verification of the General Theory of Relativity, fundamental physical principles, using specially launched satellites․

Main Directions

Observational cosmology, dynamics of nonlinear astrophysical systems, including gravitational systems, essentially using methods of dynamical systems theory, characteristics (KS-entropy, Kolmogorov stochastic parameter, etc.) and corresponding modeling, machine learning algorithms.

Achievements

Research results are published in international journals with a high impact factor, and reported in international conferences. Some results (accurate calculation of Earth's gravitational tidal properties and orbits of satellites, verification of the invariance of the speed of light at the European Synchrotron (ESRF, Grenoble) with the data of our proposed experiment) have been spread in the international media and are currently included in various encyclopedias.

Three employees were included in the list of efficient scientific workers of RA. Since 2008, 9 PhD theses have been defended under the supervision of V. Gurzadyan (2 PhDs in Italy).
