Laboratory of Theoretical Physics
Academician Gurgen Sahakyan is the founder of the Laboratory of Theoretical Physics. The laboratory operated as a research group under the Chair of Theoretical Physics at Yerevan State University. Later, as a separate structural unit, it was included in the YSU Institute of Physics.
The research directions of the laboratory are:
Physics of superdense stars, alternative theories of gravity and their applications in cosmology and astrophysics,
phenomena of quantum field theory with external fields and the presence of boundaries and their applications in cosmology and condensed matter physics,
quantum phenomena in de Sitter and anti-de Sitter spacetimes and Friedman-Robertson-Walker cosmological models,
low-dimensional quantum spin models and their applications for describing magnetic phenomena in strongly correlated systems,
topological phases of spin and fermionic systems with high-rank symmetries,
dynamical symmetries of superintegrable systems of interacting quantum particles.
The laboratory cooperates and implements joint scientific programs with scientific centers in Russia, Italy, Brazil, Germany, Spain, and Iran.
Many programs funded by the Armenian Higher Education and Science Committee have been implemented in the laboratory.
