Laboratory of Optoelectronics and Photonics
In 1974 Research Laboratory of Optoelectronics was established at the Chair of Optics and operated up till thematic financing of research studies in the republic. In 2007 it was renamed the Research Laboratory of Optoelectronics and Photonics. Since 2016, the laboratory has operated as part of the Research Institute of Physics.
The main research directions are:
- Laser-induced hydrodynamic motions in isotropic and anisotropic fluids,
- thermomechanical and electromechanical phenomena in liquid and solid nematics,
- problems of mechanical stability of modern optical elements,
- research aimed at the creation of new optical elements designed for the control of light and, in particular, laser radiation,
- electric-, magnetic-, light-, acoustic-, thermal-, mechanical-fields induced orientational phenomena,
- creation of defect-induced small-sized optoelectronic elements, laser radiation sources and control systems by coating defects in liquid crystals. Physics of Photonic Crystals.
Due to various mechanisms, the study of nonlinearity in systems is one of the most important issues of modern physics and other branches of science. Apart from purely theoretical interest, these studies are significant due to their wide range of practical applications.
