Chair of Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Informatics
The Chair of Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Informatics was established in 2006 based on the Chairs of discrete mathematics and algebra-logical methods of Informatics.
Distinguished scientists I. Zaslavski, H. Maranjyan, and S. Markosyan made a great contribution to the creation of the chair and the formation of the scope of scientific interests.
Well-recognized and high-level specialists who have been and are still involved in different-year grant programs, as well as have authored educational manuals, university textbooks, and scientific articles published in prestigious scientific periodicals teach at the Chair.
The main research fields of the chair are:
• discrete mathematics,
• discrete extremal problems,
• applied algebra,
• graph theory,
• VLSI design,
• theory of Boolean functions,
• algebraic coding theory,
• theory of algorithms,
• mathematical logic,
• complexity theory,
• approximation algorithms,
• operations research,
• cryptography, etc.
The department implements the "Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Informatics" Master's educational program.
