As part of the events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Council of Europe, a meeting was held with the representatives of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan, as well as the students and teaching staff of the YSU Faculty of Law.
The meeting took place in the courtroom of the YSU Faculty of Law on May 8, this year.
In the first part of the meeting, Maxime Longangue delivered a lecture-report. He mentioned that one of the objectives of the activities carried out by the Council of Europe is communicating with young people in the academic environment, which will give them the opportunity to get acquainted with the role, functions and work of the organization in its member countries. He emphasized that these young individuals will also have the opportunity to be involved in the organization's work in the future.
At the meeting, the organization's structure, functions, modern legal issues, the role of international organizations in the field of human rights protection, as well as the potential prospects for future cooperation were presented to the students in detail. Following this presentation, the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan answered the students' questions.
Harutyun Khachikyan, the Dean of the YSU Faculty of Law, highlighted the significance of such meetings, especially for students currently studying the "European Law" course. He noted that this was the first meeting in this format and expressed satisfaction with its success, as it outlined new ways of cooperation for both parties.
